Creating a Podcast

I was assigned to create a podcast about my idea of making the world a better place. I decided to talk about something I truly care about, which is the relationship between modern-day clothing and our health. In today's clothing, petroleum-based fabrics such as nylon and polyester are extremely common. Although they are something humans use every day, most people don’t really know the truth behind those fabrics. Firstly, there is something we need to understand, and it’s that our skin acts like a sponge. With that knowledge in the back of our heads, let’s see why I think they should be banned. Petroleum based fabrics contain microplastics which our bodies absorb. And it has been proven that micro-plastics have a ton of negative impact on our bodies. Studies show that petroleum-based clothes contain harmful chemicals that are linked to hormone disruption and even cancer, which explains increased rate of cancer cases and complaints about hormonal issues.

So, let’s talk about the journey of creating this podcast. I did not face a lot of struggles because I already had the equipment needed. And when it came to finding an idea and preparing a script, it only took me a few minutes because my topic is something that I really pay attention to in my everyday life. The process was quite fun, and I would give such an assignment to my students in the future, because I think that would be a fun idea for learning their interest and ideas. And lastly, the advantages and disadvantages of such an assignment. I would say learning about your students’ ideas and seeing how they express them in a limited amount of time would be a great way to get a hint about their personality. And for the disadvantages, in some cases students might struggle finding the equipment needed.
