Final Post

Before taking this course, I would never have guessed that technology could be that much integrated with ELT. I could always think of basics such as receiving a feedback from Ai tool and using language learning applications but thanks to this course my view on using technology on education got wider. I could never think of making students create a podcast or a digital story as a way to engage with their fellow students and the course itself.

Throughout the semester we were assigned many tasks that included technology from head to toe. Through these tasks, I learned a lot of new ways to engage with technology both as a student and a teacher. Some of my favorite tasks were “collaborative writing task” and “creating a podcast”. After completing these tasks, I quickly realized that podcasts are a great way to engage with your students and to step in their world to understand their perceptions of some topics. Also, tasks like collaborative writing made me realize that when your friends are included in an assignment it no longer feels like a duty but a fun experience.

Also, I believe the feedback that we gave and received from our classmates throughout the semester was really beneficial in terms of communication between peers.

My least favorite tasks were probably the blog post about 21st century learning and infographic because I prefer to engage in a quality group work with lots of brainstorming, discussions and laughter, rather than spending 15 minutes trying to decide what word would suit best to my sentences on my own.

After all, we have came to the end of the semester with some good memories of completing group tasks, long minutes on the computer on individual tasks (except podcast that was fun), and lots of new information and viewpoints of how can we utilize the technology in our classes as efficiently as possible.

Lastly, I want to shoutout to my friends who I collaborated with and give a big thank you to my professor Mustafa Polat for providing us such great opportunities to engage with such experiences.
